The doctors of the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim, Department of Pediatric Cardiology, conducted a successful non-surgical catheterization intervention on a 9-day-old newborn weighing 2 kilos. The patient was suffering from a complete obstruction of the pulmonary artery valve, which caused him to have a complete interruption of blood circulation to the entire the body.  A stent was installed for the arterial channel between the aorta and the pulmonary artery to deliver blood to the lungs with the expansion of the atrial hole in order for the body to benefit from the mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.

After checking on the condition of the child, the patient was stable condition and still in intensive care and the pictures attached the before and after the catheter intervention.

The Department of Pediatric Cardiology of PSCCQ has successfully conducted 337 cardiac catheterizations for children during the year 2022 AD.
