The surgical team of Prince Sultan Cardiac
Center in Qassim saved the life of a 37-year-old patient through a successful
open heart surgery. It was known that this operation was tagged as the largest
and the most dangerous of its type especially in terms of accuracy and
complexity.
The said patient was transferred from one of the hospitals in
the Qassim region to the center's emergency department. He suffered from
throbbing pain in the chest with severe pallor and fatigue, accompanied by a
drop in arterial pressure. He was treated with immunosuppressive drugs and cortisone for many
years due to a chronic immune disease that led to kidney failure which affected
the patient's health status since childhood. The medical team was forced to
give the patients with medications that support the heart muscle before
surgery.
With the patient's life-threatening
condition, the medical team resulted to conduct a high risk open heart surgery
in order to save his life. They replaced the dissected aorta with the aortic
valve, repaired it and transplanted the dissected coronary arteries, feeding
the heart muscle with the artificial artery. Praises to the Almighty Allah, the
surgery was deemed successful. Upon the stability of the patient's condition,
he was then discharged from the center to recur his life's normalcy.
The success of the operation depends
upon the skills and capabilities of the surgical team handling the surgery
and should also be carried out in a highest specialized heart centers with
special equipment’s, capabilities, and expertise. With pride and honor, PSCCQ
has these all. As much as possible, Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim is
always looking out for every patient's welfare and wellness.
