The Department of
Education, Training, and Research of PSCCQ has successfully organized a two -day
activity entitled “The Nursing Leadership and Management Course” on 9-10 December
2019 at the PSCCQ Cardiology Conference Room. A total of Thirty (30)
participants were in attendance. This activity was part of the
series of courses offered by the Nursing Education, Training, and Research
and was purposely aimed to develop leadership and managerial nursing skills
among the nurses within the center as well as from the various hospitals in
the Region. This was accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health
Specialties for 16 CME hours.
The Deputy Nursing Director, Ms.
Laila Abed Eddin, emphasized that lectures and workshops were conducted in a
span of two days. The lectures discussed include Leadership Styles, Writing
Nursing Strategic Plan, Effective Time Management, and Writing Improvement
Projects, Team building Workshop, Conflict Resolution, Change Management,
Effective Communication Style, Emotional Intelligence among Nurse Leaders and
Mangers and Staffing Management –Analysis and Application.
All
throughout the activity, everyone was thankful for having been part of such a
very substantive and informative program. At
the conclusion of this course, the attendees will be able to understand the
elements of leadership, managerial functions. Moreover, the participants also
will learn to be able to differentiate between a leader and a manager, as it
is common knowledge that this roles are oftentimes get confused with the
other.
