PRINCE SULTAN CARDIAC CENTER QASSIM SAVES A CHILD HIT BY A BULLET

Prince Sultan Center for Cardiac Surgery in Qassim successfully saved the life of an innocent and dying child who was hit in his heart by a stray bullet. The bullet penetrated in the heart and it was amazingly revived by the center's medical team. The child miraculously survived such a tragedy.

The medical catheterization team at the Prince Sultan Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery courageously managed to extract the bullet from the child's heart through the catheter and proud to say, without the need for a further surgery.

The Consultant Cardiologist and Interventionist, Dr. Abdullah Al Qwee said that the center received the 11-year old child after being hit by an air gun's bullet during his tampering. The bullet penetrated in the chest cavity and settled in the right side of the heart. He also added that the said case is a rare occurrence. The child was immediately directed to the cardiac laboratory and after the confirmation of his health's stability; he was transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit. With Allah's guidance and with the persistence and determination of the medical team to save the child, the bullet was extracted from the heart without complications and without the need for a surgery. The child was discharged from the center in a stable condition.

 

The Cardiac Center offers integrated cardiovascular health care for all age groups in Al-Qassim Region and nearby areas. During 2016, the Center performed 4,210 catheterizations and 382 cardiac surgery operations. The Center is accredited as a training center for six (6) specialized programs.
