SCHS visited PSCCQ for Accreditation of Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship

A committee from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties visited Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim last September 6, 2016 for accreditation of Saudi Board of Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program.

The SCHS committee was represented by Dr. Fahad Al Habshan and Dr. Sultan Al Enzi. They were warmly met and welcomed by PSCCQ Director, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mesned, his deputy Mr. Abdullah Al Fouzan, and Medical Director, Dr. Tariq Soomro.

The program director of Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship, Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Gwee presented and specified to the committee all the achievements garnered by the pediatric cardiology department since its start. He further discussed the current medical programs, training programs, current research being conducted as well as other achievements the center has reached so far. He also talked about the mission and vision of the department wherein its main mission is to deliver the best utmost care for the cardiovascular needs of pediatrics and patients with CHD in Qassim Region. It also envisions to become the center of excellence in pediatrics’ cardiovascular care and more likely to be the center of excellence in education, training, and research in the cardiovascular field. These are strongly enough reasons why the center should be duly accredited as the training ground for pediatric cardiology fellowship.

The program was administered by the experts and experienced staff on this field of expertise yet, with different areas of specialization. The administering experts were comprised of Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Gwee, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mesned, Dr. Ali Akfash, both three of them were Consultant Pediatric Cardiologists; Dr. Mohammad Saied, Adult Cardiologist; Dr. Mohammad Taj, Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon; Dr. Mehboob Ali Dar, Consultant Adult Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist; Dr. Hussam Hamadi, Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist; Dr. Faisal Al Anzi, Consultant Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist; Dr. Abdulazis Al Harbi, Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and completing the circle of the committee was Dr. Dalia Al Horby, Registered Cardiologist.

The said program and meeting was made more sensible and effective with the presence of the other big personalities some of whom are aforementioned and was added by Ms. Kahkashan Sana, Nursing Director and Ms. Rosario Labiste, Education Coordinator.

The SCHS delegates took an ocular visit to pediatric clinic and to  soon to be open pediatric department (Cardiac Cath Lab, PICU, Cardiac OR)

The SCHS committee gave their decision of granting PSCCQ of approved accreditation as for Saudi Board of Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program.
