PSCCQ Department of Education, Training, and Research hold the 4th Emergency Echocardiography Course on August 24-25, 2016 at PSCCQ Conference Room. This 2-day course subsumes 13 CME hours which relatively indulged into a series of sensible lectures and active interaction among the speakers and the participants.

The program proper unfolded with the guests confirming their attendance and presence at the registration list. It was then ensued with a welcome address and introduction given by Dr. Mohammed Saied, Consultant Adult Cardiologist and Head of Non-invasive Cardiology Department.

Dr. Rami Abazid, Consultant Adult Cardiologist and Head of Cardiac CT Scan Unit and Cardiac Outpatient Department, was the very first speaker who lectured on Principles of Ultrasound Physics. He deliberately explained every single thing they ought to learn about this field knowing that it is useful in their respective works.

To add, Dr. Mohammed Saied had a systematic explanation and a multiple lectures about Principles of Doppler Echocardiography and Hemodynamic Assessment, COP, SV, LV Filling Pressure, Intracardiac Pressure, and Echocardiography Acute Chest Pain Syndrome and ACS. Dr. Saied impressively shared all his learned views and insights on all of this matter. He spoke about Echocardiography in Acute Valvular Disorder. This was quite a significant discussion since it extends its scope on the nature, risks and possible and latest echocardiography procedure of the said disorder.

Dr. Osama Smettei, Consultant Adult Cardiologist and Advance Cardiac Imaging took the floor off and had his piece of share about Echocardiography in Cardiac Tamponade. It was great to have tackled on this because it’s a bit serious disease which needs prompt diagnosis in order to reduce the mortality risks for patients carrying this kind of illness and that they must also undergo echocardiography without delay.

After their lunch break, Dr. Mohammed Saied had a comprehensive lecture about Echocardiography in Infective Endocarditis and Echocardiography in Hypotensive Patient in Intensive Care Unit (Hypovolemia Septic Shock). He gave a very thorough discussion clear enough to be mentally absorbed and learned by the attendees.

The first day ended with a discourse on Interactive Cases shared by Dr. Ali Ali Abdullah Al Akhfash, Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist. All along the whole day activity, Dr. Osama Smettei and Dr. Rami Abazid both stood as the chairpersons.

On the second day of the course Dr. Ali Al Akhfash, squeezed out all his detailed information and facts regarding Echocardiography in Pediatric Cardiac Emergency and Prostaglandin Dependent Congenital Heart Diseases.

Dr. Rami Abazid followed with a broad lecture on Echocardiography in Stuck Prosthetic Valve. This may seem uncommon but it has serious complications that therefore require immediate therapy.

Dr. Osama Smettei discussed about Echocardiography in Acute Aortic Syndrome. This gave the guests the chance of learning more. They have further learned that the role of echocardiography in acute aortic syndrome has changed significantly in recent years. Now, they can say that there is a development of an appropriate therapeutic strategy.

As the program proceeded, Dr. Mohammed Saied lectured on Echocardiography in Pulmonary Embolism and Echocardiography in Acute Cerebrovascular Accident and Thromboembolism. Likewise, a lecture about Echocardiography in Traumatic Patient was thoroughly discussed by Dr. Osama Smettei.

Dr. Mohammed Saied once again returned to talk more on Echocardiography in Cardiogenic Shock, Assessment of Fluid Responsiveness and lastly on Interactive Cases

The Course Organizer, Dr. Mohamed Saied was so overwhelmed and thankful with the turn-out of the event. He was more than glad to have come out with such a successful course and is optimistic enough in looking forward to another similar activity in the following years.
