As part of its motivated drive to raise the level of awareness among people regarding the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, PSCCQ successfully launched its 31st awareness campaign carrying on the slogan "Your Heart, Your Life, Protect Young Heart". This was held at Buraidah Othaim Mall last June 25, 2016 and was spearheaded by PSCCQ Director, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mesned. On behalf of the Director of Directorate of Health Affairs in Qassim Region, the Assistant Director of Therapeutic Services Dr. Sultan Al Shaya inaugurated the 31th Awareness Campaign who was at the same time given a heads up about the program.
Accordingly, it was more satisfying and gratifying to see a considerable number of interested people who flocked in to register for the program. The participants were assisted by expert health workers and assured them that all their inquisitions will be satisfactorily given due answers.
Prior to the start of the event proper, Dr. Al Mesned gave an overview of the program in line with the 2030 vision of the Kingdom. The attending guests were examined through weight measurement, blood pressure check, and blood sugar testing. Each was given pamphlets which contained information on causes and risks of heart ailments. It was explained that eating the right foods, doing regular exercise, and avoiding smoking can greatly reduce the risk of heart ailments. It should be noted that heart diseases are the leading cause of death not only in the Kingdom but all over the world; hence this program materialized to make the people aware and warned to lessen the rapid spread of these diseases. The Center will continue its mission to inform the public so as to reduce the likely occurrence of acquired heart ailments.
Also during the program, a fun-filled activity particularly a drawing contest was given. Parents who brought along their children joined the activity and everyone truly had a great fun. This came as the lighter and brighter side of the program.
Moreover, Ms. Mariam Al Harbi, the Head of the organizing team and PSCCQ's Chief of Health Education, stressed out that this campaign drive comes within the center's framework of social responsibility in letting the people know particularly in Qassim Region on healthy ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
On the other hand, the Director General of Therapeutic Services Assistant, Dr. Sultan Al Shaya, extended his heartwarming praises to PSCCQ and the organizers for coming out with such a significant campaign. He expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support and collaborative efforts of everyone who made the event possible. For him, it was indeed a campaign for a good cause knowing that everybody has gained sufficient knowledge and facts about cardiovascular diseases.
To add, Dr. Al Mesned also thanked the organizers and assured everyone that PSCCQ will continue to live with its mission of being an informative tool and instrument to the public so as to reduce the numerous occurrence not only of acquired heart diseases but all kinds of diseases as well. He also mentioned that PSCCQ will extend its mission of serving the public in the best way they can.
A plaque of appreciation was also given to director of Al Othaim Mall to duly recognize his unhesitant decision of allowing the PSCCQ organizers to held the campaign in Othaim Mall.
