Cardiology Update: chronic total occlusion (CTO) coronary intervention

The Department of Education, Training and Research at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim has recently held a CME academic activity entitled: “CARDIOLOGY UPDATE: CHRONIC TOTAL OCCLUSION (CTO) CORONARY INTERVENTION” on 18 January 2016 at Mövenpick Hotel. The guest speaker was Prof. Alfredo Ruggero Galassi, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Disease at The University of Catania, Italy, and Director of Diagnostic and Cardiovascular Interventional Laboratory, Clinical Division of Cardiology at Cannizzaro Hospital in Italy.

Before this activity was held, Professor Galassi conducted 2 days workshop in the Cardiac Cath Lab of PSCCQ. He showed the tips and tricks of CTO interventions. On the night of the cardiology update, he gave a lecture that highlighted the indications, management, strategies of CTO intervention, and insights from the European experience. This workshop enhanced the knowledge and skills of our staff to perform such complex coronary interventions.

This activity was attended by Interventional cardiologists, physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals in the region and was accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for 4 CME/PD hours.
