The surgical team of PSCCQ has successfully removed a huge tumor found in the heart of a patient

A surgical team from Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim has successfully removed a huge tumor found in the heart of a 38-year-old patient.

The man suffered from  drowsiness and transient attack of unconscious. When the patient sought medical advice, his doctor discovered that he had abnormally low blood pressure and referred him to the center for further evaluation.

The patient was brought to the center where an echocardiography test was done and it was discovered that the patient had a huge mass filling located in the left atrium cavity of his heart that was blocking the blood flow through the heart.

The center’s surgical team headed by Dr. Yousry Al-Moazamy decided to do an urgent operation to save the patient’s life.

The tumor, measuring 10.5 cm by 8 cm, was successfully removed. The patient was transferred to an intensive care unit for two days and discharged from the center in a stable condition.
Such case is uncommon because study shows that only 1 case in every 3,500 population.
