The Department of Infection Control works in close liaison with all Units of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center and King Fahd Specialist Hospital. Staff includes
the Infection Control Director, Infection Control  Coordinator and Infection Control practitioners who are available from 0730 hours to 1630  hours  on regular
 working days.

MAIN ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
• Surveillance and monitoring of Healthcare-associated infections
• Daily review of positive microbiology reports to identify problems and implement timely intervention
• Targeted surveillance in high-risk areas such as the CCU, CSICU, ICU
• Investigation and control of  outbreaks and infection clusters among patients and personnel- Infection Control addresses concerns about
  isolation practices and exposures to communicable diseases in a timely manner
• The department creates policies and procedures for prevention and control of Healthcare-associated infections among patients, personnel,
and visitors
          
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• Identifying and developing appropriate information material for educational purposes as they relate to unit or practice specific concerns.
• Conducting interactive formal and informal education sessions in wards and units
• New employee orientation providing general education in the principles of Infection Control
• Staff also accommodate requests for education and consultation on specific areas of interest to general Medical staff, nursing units and practices involved in patient care

AND CONTROLLING HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS.
