The surgical team at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim has achieved another successful milestone by performing a high-risk open-heart surgery on a 58-year-old patient. The patient had been experiencing recurrent episodes of chest pain and breathlessness due to unstable coronary blood supply with severe and multiple blockages in the coronary arteries supplying the heart muscle.

The patient was meticulously prepared for the surgery and underwent a four-and-a-half-hour open-heart procedure. During the surgery, arterial and venous grafts were implanted, and a calcified plaque from the anterior coronary artery, measuring 7.7 cm in length, was carefully removed.

Following the successful operation, the patient stayed in the cardiac surgery intensive care unit for 48 hours. The medical staff then supervised their treatment in the surgical ward alongside stable cases. The patient was discharged from the center in good health and continues to receive regular follow-up care at the cardiac and surgical clinics. It is worth mentioning that nine similar cases have been successfully treated within three months, all of which have been met with success, thanks to the center's suitable facilities, capabilities, and specialized medical team that has earned the trust of the community.
