Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Al
Qassim in collaboration with King Fahd Specialist Clinic in Buraidah in
conducting a very rare yet, a successful operation.
The 26 years old patient suffered
from severe lung inflammation and a purulent collection resulting from
complications in the stomach. After a series of clinical examinations, it was
found out that there was an opening between the digestive and the respiratory
system. The CT scan and the upper endoscopy showed that these openings created
a rare complication.
A medical meeting was conducted
between King Fahd Clinic and Prince Sultan Cardiac Center doctors of the
digestive system, general surgery, and diagnostic radiology. They carefully
discussed the case and what to do to make it successful. They decided to take
the patient to the cardiac catheterization laboratory of the center. Under
general anesthesia, the catheter was performed under the supervision of Dr.
Nawaf Al-Mutairi, consultant of the digestive system and endoscopy and Dr.
Abdullah Al-Qwaee, the center’s medical director and consultant of cardiac
catheterization. A speculum was made and the opening of the hole was found. The
medical team managed to close the hole successfully and in record time.
Dr. Abdullah Harbi, consultant to
general surgery and obesity, stated that this kind of operation represents a
qualitative treatment for the rare complications of cutting the stomach, which
is called infusion. He also heartily thanked the people behind the heart center
in Al-Qassim for their immediate response, and for quickly providing the needs
for the operation.
Both King Fahd Specialist Clinic and
Prince Sultan Cardiac Center were proud and pleased with the success of the
operation they have conducted.
