PSCCQ SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED THE PEDIATRIC CRITICAL COURSE

The Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim represented by the Department of Pediatric Cardiology organized the two-day Pediatric Critical Care: from basic to advance on December 24-25 at the main auditorium of the Maternity and Children’s Hospital in Buraydah. 

The center's director, Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Al-Mesnid warmly welcomed the presence of the participants from and outside the Qassim region. He also hopes that the participants will grab this rare opportunity of learning from the lectures and workshops and will hopefully use this for the betterment of their craft and work.

On the other hand, the course Director Dr. Bana Nasser emphasized the components of the entire course; she further said that the session was mainly composed of 11 scientific lectures and 6 practical workshops. The consultants in the Intensive Care in pediatric from PSCCQ and Maternity Children’s Hospital was jointly partaken by the consultants from the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh in coherently delivering the lectures and facilitating the workshops in order to make a substantial and productive course. 

Accordingly, this program was designed to train health care providers on procedures for dealing with various diagnostic cases common in children and its early symptoms or prognosis. It also aimed to teach the basic steps in addition to clinical simulation workshops for intensive care cases; pointing out the importance of exchanging experiences and exchanging information. The scientific developments in this field are reflected positively on the quality and improvement of health care services provided to patients especially children. 

Nonetheless, this course was attended by about 85 medical practitioners consist of doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists. This course was also approved for 13 hours of continuous medical education by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. 

The course organizers were so overwhelmed with the positive response of the participants and the successful result of the entire program.
